veryverysmall chickens VERYLARGE EGGS Off I go to take a foto of the SNOW. Dang. Did I mention bushtits? They come through our yard like a vacuum cleaner scarfing up all little bugs & goodies from bushes & trees.....all the while chittering to each other.
Where are your new posts?????! Guesssss what Papa & I saw on our walk along Whatcom Creek today. Brown. Thick fur. Making crashy in the bushes noises. Close to the ground. Near the water.

BIG FLAT HAIRLESS TAIL!!!!!
The first time either of us has actually seen a beaver.
The other news is that the flickers are in mating show-off mode here. Lots of yodelling from tall trees & rooftops. And today, one chose our bathroom vent (looks like a black metal chimney) on the roof to demonstrate for all interested female flickers just how well & how long he could ratatat--tat!!!
How secretive & rebellious of Dr. W. to lay her eggs under the porch! Maybe the murderous dog left her feeling insecure & nervous.....temporarily we all hope. D. & I are off to see a rare exhibit of Jodhpur miniature paintings at the Seattle Asian ARt Museum this afternoon......& then on to the Bartok opera of Bluebeard! Heard it's gorey & wonderful. (Also a 12-tone opera by who..Strindberg?). Both short. Hope it's not too snowy a drive. Snow. In March. For heaven's sake. What does Dirk's & Shona's new house look like now?! Just imagine, both/all 4 of you so settled as to have houses! Wow.
Happy to hear the chickadees are moving in & setting up house again with you!
Bush tit invasion just now.......vacuuming all the trees.
Soooooo.........I just found Jonx on his cell phone in the Denver airport....& learned all sorts of stuff that could so nicely fit onto your blog, like the two new chickens!!! Yay! What could their names turn out to be??? Hoorahhh that the chickadees have chosen your house again this year. Up here our chickadees are still chasing each other around, yodelling, strutting. At least today it's above freeeezing...... at last.
> How much food can we grow in our urban backyard? > What is in season in Berkeley? > What is for dinner? > What animals have we encountered in the yard recently?
